About the Rat Terrier

The Rat Terrier is an American-bred farm dog developed to be the ultimate vermin hunter and all-around farm companion. President Theodore Roosevelt is credited with naming the breed after his own terrier cleared the White House of rats. Rat Terriers are versatile, intelligent, and sturdy little dogs with a smooth coat and elegant, athletic build. They come in miniature and standard sizes and are known for their remarkable pest-control abilities, often clearing farms of rats faster than any other method. They are lively, affectionate, and surprisingly sensitive family companions.
