About the Polish Lowland Sheepdog

The Polish Lowland Sheepdog, known in Poland as the Polski Owczarek Nizinny (PON), is a shaggy, medium-sized herding breed that has worked the plains of Poland for centuries. PONs are believed to have contributed to the development of the Bearded Collie when Polish sailors brought them to Scotland in the 1500s. They are intelligent, confident, and surprisingly strong-willed for their size. Their long, thick coat covers their eyes and gives them a teddy-bear-like appearance. PONs are watchful, loyal, and have excellent memories โ€” they rarely forget a command, a face, or an offense.
